Find nearby churches with a simple Church API
Build church finder, travel, community and directory experiences with geospatial search by coordinates, radius and optional Christian denomination.
Church search without raw OSM query logic
Nearest church
Use the nearest endpoint with religion=christian to return the closest matching church.
Nearby churches
List churches around a user or destination and paginate with limit and offset.
Denomination-aware
When OSM has denomination metadata, narrow results with values such as catholic or another valid denomination slug.
Example: nearest Christian church
curl -H "X-API-Key: $KAIROS_API_KEY" \
"https://kairos.yarumaltech.com/v1/places/nearest?lat=6.96333&lon=-75.41722&radiusKm=8&religion=christian"
Example: Catholic churches nearby
curl -H "X-API-Key: $KAIROS_API_KEY" \
"https://kairos.yarumaltech.com/v1/places/nearby?lat=6.96333&lon=-75.41722&radiusKm=8&religion=christian&denomination=catholic&limit=20&offset=0"
Good fits for a Church API
Travel and tourism
Show nearby churches or cathedrals around a hotel, landmark or current location.
Faith and community directories
Build location pages around stable identifiers instead of repeatedly resolving raw map objects.
Accessibility and local discovery
Combine Kairos place data with your own accessibility, hours or community information.
Research datasets
Use normalized religion and coordinate fields as an input to geospatial analysis.
Church API FAQ
Does Kairos guarantee a denomination for every church?
No. The API reflects source metadata. A church can be Christian while denomination is absent in OpenStreetMap.
Can I search only Catholic churches?
Yes, where source metadata supports it, by combining religion=christian with denomination=catholic.
