Temple finder API
Find temples across multiple religious traditions
Temple is a broad term, so Kairos lets applications combine nearby geospatial search with religion filters instead of treating every temple as the same category.
Use religion filters to define the temple search
| Use case | Suggested filter |
|---|---|
| Hindu temples | religion=hindu |
| Buddhist temples | religion=buddhist |
| Sikh places of worship | religion=sikh |
| Shinto shrines / places of worship | religion=shinto |
| Broad search | religion=all |
Example: nearby Hindu places of worship
curl -H "X-API-Key: $KAIROS_API_KEY" \
"https://kairos.yarumaltech.com/v1/places/nearby?lat=28.6139&lon=77.2090&radiusKm=8&religion=hindu&limit=20&offset=0"
Example: nearest Buddhist place of worship
curl -H "X-API-Key: $KAIROS_API_KEY" \
"https://kairos.yarumaltech.com/v1/places/nearest?lat=35.6762&lon=139.6503&radiusKm=8&religion=buddhist"
Temple API FAQ
Why not use a single temple filter?
Because the term “temple” spans different traditions. Religion-aware filtering gives applications a more explicit and predictable query.
Does Kairos classify architecture?
Kairos primarily exposes normalized place-of-worship metadata from OpenStreetMap. It should not be treated as a definitive architectural classification system.
